TEQ™, A TOPPAN Company, is proud to introduce EnviroTEQ™, a new family of thermoformed PET packaging solutions designed for pharmaceutical and biologics applications.
Launching with RTU tubs and Rondo trays, EnviroTEQ™ provides manufacturers with a proven alternative to traditional polystyrene packaging while supporting sustainability initiatives and operational performance requirements.

Designed for Today’s Pharmaceutical Environment
Pharmaceutical packaging must meet exacting standards for consistency, cleanliness, and automation compatibility.
The EnviroTEQ™ product suite was developed specifically to satisfy those requirements while delivering a meaningful reduction in environmental impact.
Compared with conventional injection-molded polystyrene, thermoformed PET solutions offer:
- Lower carbon footprint
- Compatibility with established recycling streams
- Faster and more cost-effective tooling
- Performance suitable for automated fill-finish operations
- Availability of recycled-content options
These benefits make PET a strong candidate for programs seeking practical sustainability improvements without compromising functionality.
Lifecycle Analysis Shows Significant Carbon Reduction
TEQ™’s initial lifecycle assessment found that a thermoformed PET RTU tub can reduce embodied carbon by approximately 20% compared with a conventional polystyrene alternative.
Using recycled PET increases that reduction to approximately 32%.
Importantly, most of the benefit is driven by the material itself, demonstrating the substantial impact that resin selection can have on a product’s overall environmental footprint.
At production scale, the savings become even more significant. Converting one million tubs from polystyrene to recycled PET can eliminate approximately 253 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions.
Build for the Future
The pharmaceutical industry is entering a period of increasing focus on packaging sustainability. Manufacturers are balancing patient safety, regulatory requirements, operational efficiency, and environmental objectives simultaneously.
EnviroTEQ™ was developed with those realities in mind.
Rather than requiring a complete redesign of existing systems, the product suite offers a practical path toward lower-carbon packaging based on materials and manufacturing technologies available today.
Global Legislative Initiatives
Regulation is accelerating across the EU and US. EU recycled-content requirements under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) apply to plastic packaging from January 2030, and Extended Producer Responsibility programs are live in a growing number of U.S. states. Component qualification runs on multi-year timelines. Programs that treat conversion as a tooling decision in 2026 will absorb these changes comfortably. Programs that wait risk a compliance scramble in 2029.
TEQ™ manufactures in ISO 13485-certified cleanroom facilities across the United States and Europe. We pair integrated tooling with process control tuned to PET, not adapted from another resin.
The TEQ™ Advantage
TEQ™ manufactures in ISO 13485-certified cleanroom facilities across the United States and Europe, supported by integrated tooling capabilities and deep expertise in pharmaceutical packaging.
With EnviroTEQ™, customers gain more than a new material option. They gain access to a partner experienced in bringing packaging innovations to market quickly, reliably, and at scale.
For pharmaceutical companies evaluating alternatives to traditional polystyrene packaging, EnviroTEQ™ provides a practical next step toward achieving sustainability goals while maintaining the quality and performance the industry demands.
